The pregnancy test is positive. We look at each other in awe. We are going to have a baby!
HELP, is the first word that comes to my mind. Sam and I have discussed this eventuality, planned for it and desired it passionately. Now that it has become a reality, are we really ready? My mind is blank. This news is too big for me to grasp.
Sam recovers first. He is overjoyed. I am still in a daze. I need more time to process this new reality.
“Ok Sofie,” I say to myself. “Breathe!”. I curl up on the sofa. Sam sits by me and holds my hand. Words are not needed to express the deep joy spreading through us and filling the space around us. We look at each other and smile. We are ready for the lifetime marathon that is going to start.
